No, you do not need a referral to begin physical therapy UNLESS you have a HMO insurance plan. In the state of Texas, you can begin physical therapy without a referral from a medical doctor.
We contract with most major commercial and government insurance providers including Medicare, United Healthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana, Tricare Prime, Tricare East, Tricare West, and ChampVA.
Unfortunately, we cannot be in contract with some insurance providers, however we can provide you with the steps to apply for reimbursement from your insurance, or bill as an out-of-network provider. We also offer a very competitive cash pay rate. If cash pay rates are challenging to accommodate at time of services, we can offer payment plans at your convenience.
Typically, initial evaluations take 1 hour to about 1 hour 15 minutes and following treatment appointments take about 1 hour.
Absolutely not. Although we do treat athletes, our philosophy is to promote functional mobility at every level and every age. The beauty of an individualized plan of care always has an end goal in mind whether that is returning to competitive sport or perform your desired daily activity pain free. Movement links us all.

Yes! Our team consists solely of Doctors of Physical Therapy.
Yes! To preserve continuity of care, we encourage scheduling your appointments with the same physical therapist who evaluated you. We believe working with the same physical therapist will be the best strategy to help you achieve your goals and progress you through your rehab.
Absolutely! It is imperative we give you exercises to perform at home to help reduce your pain, and ensure you are improving. As you progress, your home exercise program will be updated to meet your current needs and address your biggest impairments at each stage of rehab.
Absolutely not. At Movement State, we believe staying moving is critical to ensuring the best opportunity for improvement. After a thorough evaluation we will review your current activities and make decisions that will only aid in your recovery. If modifications, pauses, or the substitution for a similar, less symptomatic movement need to be made to your current routine, we will help you understand why those decisions are impactful with your plan of care with the intention of returning to your desired routine as soon as possible.
