Emily Humpal PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT
Board Certified Doctor of Physical Therapy
Dr. Emily Humpal is a board-certified Doctor of Physical Therapy. She specializes in post-surgical care, sports rehab, and orthopedic physical therapy. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from the University of Texas at San Antonio where she played Division I softball for the Roadrunners and her Doctoral degree from the University of The Incarnate Word.
Her passion for physical therapy began at an early age when playing competitive sports and having to rehabilitate several injuries that were potentially sport ending afflictions. She personally understands the rigors an athlete must endure as well as the challenges a patient faces rehabilitating an injury or recovering from surgery.
Emily is a perpetual student and always enjoys furthering her learning and clinical expertise. She completed her Fellowship in manual therapy from the Institute of Athletic Regeneration and is now a faculty member for the program. She has a strong commitment to ongoing learning and education.
Emily’s treatment approach is to find the root cause of the issue for long term resolution. She not only wants to reduce your pain, improve your range of motion and strength, but to treat the cause of the issue, preventing likelihood for recurrence. She is a co-owner of Movement State Physical Therapy & Sports Rehab alongside her husband Dr. Kevin Gonzalez.
Emily believes in living life to the fullest and embracing new experiences. She enjoys the excitement of traveling to new places and having an adventure! Emily and Kevin love to team up in the kitchen, experimenting with new ingredients and flavors. Recently making homemade pizza in their outdoor pizza oven has been a favorite of theirs!
Kevin Gonzalez PT, DPT
Board Certified Doctor of Physical Therapy
Dr. Kevin Gonzalez is a board-certified Doctor of Physical and holds a strong passion for improving functional mobility across all functional levels. Kevin’s expertise includes post operative care, functional movement analysis, gait analysis, return to sport testing, and exercise physiology as it pertains to rehab including blood flow restriction training, dry needling, and staying current with innovating techniques and treatments.
His interest in the field is deep rooted and began at an early age playing nearly every sport with a ball (and some without). At a young age Kevin had a devastating ankle injury that was never treated and eventually became activity-limiting arthritis that plagues him to this day. Although tissues heal, such as the ankle sprain in childhood, movement dysfunctions require acknowledgement and persistence to improve. This experience only further strengthened his desire to improve mobility and be functionally robust to perform as much as his previous activities as possible. In this way, he is able to relate to patients afflicted by chronic pain.
Kevin received his Bachelors in Kinesiology from The University of Texas at San Antonio and began his formal doctoral journey at the University of St Augustine where his interest in human movement and biomechanics grew to the foundation of his practice today. He is proud to be the co-owner and practicing therapist at Movement State Physical Therapy & Sports Rehab and is thrilled to further his skills with his Fellowship in Manual Therapy in 2024.
It brings Kevin great joy to be a physical therapist, help people achieve their goals in rehab, and be able to give the tools and education to enable the success that exists within. Kevin also enjoys the artistry of woodworking, the enjoyment of a good movie, and the adventure of traveling with his wife Emily.
The greatest success I have so far in this life is to be a physical therapist, practice alongside my beloved wife, and be of help to those who seek it.”
